Reiki sessions may reduce stress, promotes relaxation, relieves pain, and enhances overall well being. It heals on the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual level. Reiki treatments may release negative feelings or thoughts leaving the client feeling more positive, light hearted and balanced. Internal and external healing often takes place and some have experienced recovery from physical issues like headaches, stomachaches, body pains, etc. but also emotional and spiritual issues like sadness, grief, anxiety, negativity, chakra blockages, etc. There are many anecdotal evidence that alongside conventional treatments, supplemental Reiki sessions have helped with major illnesses with some people recovering from diseases, cancers, mental health problems, addictions, etc. While almost everyone experiences relaxation and various improvements, healing results cannot be guaranteed. Reiki works well in conjunction with all medical or psychological care however it is recommended that if one has an illness or other medical or psychological condition that in addition to receiving Reiki treatments, clients should also consult a licensed physician or other licensed health care professional.

Reiki is not a miracle or a quick fix that gives instant cure, resolutions, or healing. It does not diagnose or give answers to solve a problem that a therapist, doctor, or health care provider hasn't been able to provide. Reiki sessions offers support by helping you provide the energy needed to help and heal yourself.

The Reiki practitioner transmits energy to the client through the palms of the hands while placing their hands lightly on or just above the body in various positions around the head, shoulders, stomach, and feet. The practitioner will direct energy through the body and its energy centers. It is a gentle yet powerful healing technique that uses Universal life force energy to assist in healing the body, mind, and spirit.
A Reiki practitioner is only a conduit for the Universal life force energy and does not create or use their own energy.
My Reiki teacher explains it as: "Receiving Reiki is like pouring hot water over ice cubes, clearing out stuck energy. In a gentle way it's like a chiropractic adjustment for your biofield. Like acupuncture but without the needles."

A Reiki session can feel like a warm glowing radiance that flows through the body. It is a relaxing experience and some clients report the body feeling heavy as it relaxes and yet the spirit or emotions feeling light at the same time. A treatment may release negative feelings or thoughts leaving the client feeling more positive, light hearted and balanced. Internal and external healing often takes place and some have experienced recovery from physical issues like headaches, stomachaches, body pains, etc. but also emotional and spiritual issues like sadness, grief, anxiety, negativity, chakra blockages, etc.
Sensations and experiences that may be felt throughout the session are warmth, coolness, tingling, energy moving and flowing within the body, seeing colors, or receiving insight and clarity. Emotional releases such as crying, feeling anger, sadness, laughter are also common. Most clients will be in a state of deep relaxation and enter a meditative state or even fall asleep while others may experience no physical sensations or experiences at all which is also completely normal. The Reiki energy still works and flows through a client even if they do not feel or experience anything.

Reiki offers a deeply calming and restorative journey for the body, mind, and spirit. Stepping into your first energy healing session can be nerve-racking, exciting, and a little mysterious if you’re unfamiliar with what to expect. All that is asked of you is to relax, be open to receive healing, and release any mental, emotional, physical tensions.

In a relaxing environment with soft lighting, calming music, and essential oils to promote peace, you’ll be asked to lie down on a massage table fully clothed. I will ask you what your primary reason for the session is or if there are any areas that you would like to focus on. An eye cover will be offered as it promotes further relaxation and quieting the mind. You will then be asked to take a few deep cleansing, mindful breaths to calm the mind and release any tensions. I will begin the session by hovering my hands above the body* and scanning the energy centers to feel any blockages. In a series of hand positions, I will continue to move my hands above the body, focusing on areas that need attention.

Sensations you may feel throughout the session are warmth, coolness, tingling, energy moving and flowing within the body, seeing colors, or receiving insight and clarity. Emotional releases such as crying, feeling anger, sadness, laughter are also common. Most likely, you will be in a state of deep relaxation and enter a meditative state or may even fall asleep. Others may experience no physical sensations at all, and that is completely normal. The Reiki energy is still working and flowing through you.

Once the session ends, we will discuss any insights I received and gathered during the process, answer any questions you may have, or listen to your experience if you want to share.

It is highly encouraged for you to stay hydrated and drink plenty of water after the session and for the next few days as it will help flush out any released energy. The effects of Reiki can last for hours, days, or even weeks after the session. You may feel more peaceful, grounded, balanced and have an overall sense of well-being while others may feel tired or emotional due to releasing energy blockages and integrating of the healing energies. Every after effect you may have are all part of the healing process.

*Reiki is traditionally practiced hands on and off the body but I only work using hands off techniques as it promotes undisturbed relaxation. In the rare case I feel the need to place my hands on the body, I will always ask for your permission first! If hands on during your session is necessary, I will only place my hands on the crown of the head, arms/hand, lower legs/feet.

The frequency of Reiki sessions depends on your needs. For specific health issues a session every couple days may be beneficial for chronic or acute conditions. If you're looking for stress relief and relaxation, a session once every 1-2 weeks can help maintain a sense of calm and balance. During difficult and challenging times, a session every few days may provide support. Some benefit from regular weekly or monthly sessions for ongoing maintenance and well-being, while others may schedule sessions as needed only when they intuitively feel called for one.

No.
Reiki is not diagnostic and should not replace medical care from your health care provider. It is a complementary healing therapy to utilize alongside conventional medical care and treatments. A Reiki practitioner is not trained or educated to diagnose illnesses. It is crucial to always follow your doctor's advice and not abandon conventional treatments.
"Karuna" is a Sanskrit word meaning compassion, compassionate action, or mercy

Karuna Reiki builds upon the traditional Usui Reiki lineage with additional symbols, energies, and specific techniques to promote deeper, more intense releases of deep seated issues. It assists in connecting with the higher self, promotes personal growth, healing the shadow self, addressing subconscious issues, past lives, traumas, karmic patterns, etc. Although the energy of Karuna Reiki works at a profound level, it will cause any shifts and healing in a gentle way. This form of Reiki emphasizes healing through kindness, compassion, unconditional love, and interconnectedness.

The 5 Reiki Gokai are a set of guiding principles for a mindful life. These principles are the teachings of the founder of Reiki, Mikao Usui, to support our life on the spiritual path of self-healing. They are the roots to what has become the system of Reiki. These 5 principles are used in daily meditation and recited in the morning and evening in order to promote a healthy mind and body, improve your life, enhance spiritual development,  and to cultivate a more positive and present state of mind.
The "just for today" phrasing emphasizes the importance of the present moment. The teachings are universal, meaning that they are open to anyone regardless of their personal religious beliefs.

Just for today, I will not be angry : This principle encourages pausing before reacting to anger and transforming it into understanding or compassion.
Just for today, I will not worry : This principle guides you to stay in the present moment and let go of anxiety about the future by focusing on what you can control now.
Just for today, I will be grateful : This principle encourages focusing on the blessing and practicing thankfulness for what you have.
Just for today, I will do my work honestly : This principle emphasizes diligence, integrity, honesty, and respect in your daily work and tasks
Just for today, I will be kind to all living beings : This principle expands kindness to all, including yourself, and promotes a compassionate outlook on life.
